QR Codes Scanned by 14 Million Americans in June
"QR codes demonstrate just one of the ways in which mobile marketing can effectively be integrated into existing media and marketing campaigns to help reach desired consumer segments," said Mark Donovan, comScore senior vice president of mobile. "For marketers, understanding which consumer segments scan QR codes, the source and location of these scans, and the resulting information delivered, is crucial in developing and deploying campaigns that successfully utilize QR codes to further brand engagement."

Extension Period Extended for 50g
VolumePost Machine-sorted Mail
On 1 October 2010 New Zealand Post made amendments to bulk mail product specifications for VolumePost 1 and VolumePost 3 products, these included:
• a new maximum weight of 50g per item
• a new minimum delivery address font size of 9pt.
As a result of your valued feedback, New Zealand Post will be extending the grace period with regard to these two changes until further notice. New Zealand Post recognise that further work is required to develop alternative options for those customers most affected by the above specification changes.

Super city address formatting
changes for mail, postcodes remain
Postcodes will become more critical to the delivery of
Auckland mail following the change to the super city structure says
New Zealand Post.
New Zealand Post Addressing Manager Geoff Pearce
said that the current city names of Manukau, North Shore City and
Waitakere in postal addresses will be replaced by Auckland from
1 November, 2010.
"For example, Henderson, Waitakere, becomes Henderson, Auckland.
Or Takapuna, North Shore City, becomes Takapuna, Auckland," he
said.
Mr Pearce said existing postcodes would not change as they are
based on postal sorting and delivery zones.
"With the multitude of streets duplicated across the new Auckland,
it's going to be even more important that people use the correct
postcode so that we know where they want mail to go to."
"A postcode tells us whether you mean Queen Street in central
Auckland or Queen Street in Otahuhu," said Mr Pearce. It also
helps, for example to ensure mail gets to the right Beach Road, as
there are 18 of them in the wider Auckland area.
Under the postcode system there are no duplicate streets or
addresses within an urban postcode boundary.
Mail sent without a postcode will still be delivered by New
Zealand Post, but it may take extra time if it's not obvious where
it's destined for.

NZ POST MAIL HOUSE GRACE PERIOD
(01 October 2010 - 31 March 2010)
Following client feedback surrounding
lowering the weight restriction for Volume Post to 50 grams,
Actionmail has been granted a 'Grace Period' from NZ Post to enable
us to effectively identify and engage with clients whose lodgements
will be affected. The Grace Period will be for lodgements
exceeding the 50g weight restriction. The Grace Period
runs from 1 October 2010 till 31 March 2010 and
during that period lodgements failing these product requirements
will not by uprated.
During the Grace Period lodgements will be receipt checked against
the weight restriction and any lodgements found to be
non-conforming will be notified. NZ Post will work exclusively with
Actionmail and Actionmail's clients to identify suitable product
solutions for clients affected by NZ Post's change, to prepare them
for the end of the Grace Period on the 1st of
April.

In light of Christchurch's devastating earthquake NZ Post has issued this announcement for Christchurch Postal Delivery
Mail delivery will resume today for most of Christchurch, there will be parts of the City that we're unable to deliver to and for those areas the mail will need to be returned to the branch for customer pick up where appropriate. We will only deliver if it safe to do so, we need staff to use caution and discretion when faced with hazards and please be careful at all times as the streets and footpaths are not the same as they were on Friday, there could be both subtle and obvious changes so extreme vigilance is required.
Key Points:
- Posties are to sort all mail as normal
- Posties are to take all mail out for delivery for all addresses unless otherwise advised by TL
- Delivery to be carried out only where it is safe to do so, for mail unable to be delivered it must be returned to the Delivery Branch at the completion of the round - PLEASE DO NOT USE RETURN SATCHELS, as we would like mail to be available for customers during the afternoons.
- Posties must NOT under any circumstances enter an area which has been cordoned off.
Avoid hazards such as:
• Flooding/Sewage
• Downed power lines
• Damage to footpaths
• Construction & maintenance on roads and footpaths
• Grass and other terrain where damage may not be immediately visible
